Chickens (and sometimes ducks)
Lineberger's Maple Springs Farm is a working farm, growing fruits and vegetables. While we do not have cows, pigs, horses, or other livestock, we do have a small flock of chickens, and sometimes ducks. Raised from chicks, their purpose is to give children and adults a farm experience. We provide chicken feed for 50 cents per cup so our guests can feed them. Visitors can look at the chickens and take pictures, but we don't allow petting or going into the chicken coop area. This is for the safety of both chickens and visitors.
In addition to chicken feed, farm workers also give them fresh, clean water and fruit and veggies that aren't fit to sell at the market. The chickens' favorite foods are watermelons, corn on the cob, and peaches.
